He does not have Jacks ...

My reasoning on the hand went like this: He either has a flush draw or an 8. He does not have a jack - if he had a jack, he wouldn't just re-raise me - he would flat call and let me hang myself.

So I thought I was good. I put a little blocking bet on the river and insta-called him when it came. My read was correct.

I got his stack ($74) on that play which was $40 more than all my other hands combined. There were a lot of $3.00 and $2.00 hands that I should have just let go. Play good hands in position and that's that.
