What a dumb play with KK ...

Either re-raise pre-flop or fold when the Ace hits. He had no fold equity at this point.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?586419

I lost $94 to set-over-set. Cooler.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?586429

$334 pot

My biggest one so far:

Pocket Jacks, turn the full house. Guy had AQ: http://www.pokerhand.org/?586241

$2,350 bankroll

The few big hands go me there. I also took out $63.50.

Heater ... $167 morning.

The power of kickers: http://www.pokerhand.org/?585326

What a weak play by me! The guy was representing a King ... the only thing that was beating me that he could hold were pocket 5's and KT. He would have raised from UTG with TT and AK. I guess he could have had K5s as well. On the river, I should have just shoved.

Got really lucky with AJ: http://www.pokerhand.org/?585327

Horrible play by me with good results. I'm dead here to AQ, A7, K7, 77 (really dead) and AK. I just straight up wasn't thinking - that's morning play for you.

AA vs. MEPOKHER: http://www.pokerhand.org/?585330

He's been playing really loose and bluffing a lot. I was going to go all the way with this hand. I actually think I played it really well.

Misplayed a set in SB/BB

99 in the SB, flopped a set: http://www.pokerhand.org/?585312

I should have re-raised him on the flop for two reasons:

1. To protect my hand! It was a drawy board.

2. Get more chips in there ... he obviously liked his hand.

PT and Sixth Sense

No poker this afternoon or evening. PT now has a database of 4803 players. Sixth Sense recognizes 138 tables with 37% of the players.

He does not have Jacks ...

I have pocket 9's in the SB: http://www.pokerhand.org/?583441

My reasoning on the hand went like this: He either has a flush draw or an 8. He does not have a jack - if he had a jack, he wouldn't just re-raise me - he would flat call and let me hang myself.

So I thought I was good. I put a little blocking bet on the river and insta-called him when it came. My read was correct.

I got his stack ($74) on that play which was $40 more than all my other hands combined. There were a lot of $3.00 and $2.00 hands that I should have just let go. Play good hands in position and that's that.

Sixth Sense and PT

My database is now up to 3,598 players on the 50NL and 100NL levels. Out of the 109 tables Sunday night at 10:00, 21% of the players have stats on them.

The $2,200 hand: Miserlou breaks down again ...

It was bound to happen - right at the end of the evening too. I have aces on the button:

AA: http://www.pokerhand.org/?582933

It was the perfect result - the other guy called as well just to see if he could win the pot.

DUBLup: lol....gettin bored...i had an aces craking hand...cept when you hit a boat
DUBLup: LOL
DUBLup: vnh

It was the perfect setup. A few good things:

1. Miserlou and I had both big stacks. I built my stack up patiently.
2. I knew where he was using Sixth Sense and I knew to play him.
3. Patience, Patience, Patience ... wait and pounce while slowly building the stack.

I'm also taking out $63.25.

$0.50 - $1.00

Played some $0.50 and $1.00.

I lost some big hands and won a big one with QQ:

QQ in the SB: http://www.pokerhand.org/?582566

Once the guy said "oops", I knew he didn't have Aces or Kings. So I represented strength.

Overall, I was up $12.00 for the session. My AK got cracked twice. It was the right play to push the second for the sake of fold equity (if he had AQ or AJ). It might have been good to see the flop though - it would have saved me about $30.00.

My bankroll is right at $2123.50.

The $20.00 mistake

When he raised, I should have moved all-in to iso the player. Both people that called were loose and would have folded. My tens would have held up.

Pocket Tens, EP: http://www.pokerhand.org/?582434

Sixth Sense

I activated my Sixth Sense Silver subsctiption for 6th months. The total cost was $144 and it should pay for itself.

Poker Tracker Database

I'm up to 3,136 players at the $0.25/$0.50 short handed tables right now. It's 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and Sixth Sense recognizes 45% of the players on the 41 tables.

BB/HR and Rake

I'm playing much better - I'm 27.6 BB/HR and my $ to Rake ratio is about 6:1. No big mistakes - I slow down when I have to. On the other hand, my cards have been pretty hot.

I need to continue calling small suited stuff in position.

Not protecting my hands ...

Two examples:

AJ in a BB/SB battle: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581740

In a different scenario, he raises, I re-raise, he calls (maybe)? Flop gives him a gutshot. He checks, I bet, and take it down. If he calls, I hit the breaks and it's a -EV play for him.

AJs where I'm the aggressor: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581743

He's got nothing on the flop, I check (I should have bet representing a K). Once the 8 hits he has a pair and no reason to believe it's not good. Good play by him, bad play by me. I then don't do anything on the river. There are ghosts under my bed!

The $2,100 hand

QTo in a SB/BB battle: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581737

I flopped top pair and value bet the river for 1/2 the pot. He thought his two pair with A kicker was good. Not a good play by him - the only thing he beats is a bluff, and even if I also have an ace, we only split the pot. I guess that's what made the bet a value bet.

Overall, I'm up $980.70 from Tuesday when I got the computer. The new widescreen rules.

The $10 mistake

I wasn't fully stacked when this hand played out. So ... it potentially cost me $10.00.

67s in the BB: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581731

I check hoping to check-raise him. He checks right behind me with his flush. The turn brings my full house so I bet out. He raises, I re-raise, he calls. Standard push on the river.

On the other hand, he might not call my all-in if I push for $32.55 ...

Why slow playing fails ...

Pocket 9's, ok flop, great turn: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581722

He should have raised me on the flop to see where he was. I probably would have folded. As it were, I stacked him.

The $2,000 hand

Pocket Kings on the button: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581360

He basically had a nice flush draw + Ace. Stats:

Pre-flop: I'm ahead 65% - 35%
On the flop: I'm down to 54% - 46% (pretty much even!)
On the turn: Now I'm up 72% - 27%

And they held up ... phew. Now my bankroll is up to $2,023.95. I'm up exactly $900 since Tuesday. If I can just minimize my losses ...

The hand that I SHOULD have played ...

In position, small suited connector. It should have been money:

43s: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581354

Pocket Aces cracked ... SB/BB

I guess all the money was going to go in regardless what he bet on the flop. I was just happy he made it cheap. I actually think I protected my hand alright. I was really relieved when he didn't turn over trips - basically, he was drawing dead on the turn:

64s in the BB with position: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581304

The hands I play ...

It seems like my profit is coming on big hands - I am not winning enough of the $10.00 pots - it's all coming on the $100.00 ones. This is one of the changes in my game I need to change about my game - to win those large pots.

Here is my KTs from the BB: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581261

It's a pitty he didn't have a full buy in - he had a good hand too. Again - I just called the turn with a made hand to let him catch whatever card he needed - and it paid off.

The $1,900 hand ...

He was making it so cheap to play from the button ...

56o: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581118

This means I'm up $308 for the day and $795 since Tuesday. I will also be getting $363 * 0.27 = $98 in rakeback.

Miserlou

Tried to buy the pot with my full house in an unraised pot:

10-5s, SB: http://www.pokerhand.org/?581084

The Pot Button

Like GP was saying ... it really sets people on tilt. People will call just to see:

Pocket 2's: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580963

Small bet, small bet, mash pot.

K9s - flopped top two, just started betting: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580969

I guess pocket 5's is the only thing I have to worry about. If he has them, he has them ... oh well - I'm going to pay him.

$1,800

A few hands that finally got me to $1,800:

QQ, flop trips: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580933

I guess I would have pushed the flop regardless, obviously I will do it with top set.

Pocket Rockets, shorthanded, just pushed it and the guy got fed up and then stacked: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580949

Stacked a guy ... and a brutal bad beat

A set of 8's: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580756. I played pretty aggressively.

Lost to a set on the river. Brutal bad beat. I should have raised the flop and pushed the turn. I figured that with being ahead, I would let him catch up. Bad idea.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?580785

I got some of it back when I flopped the nut straight and pushed it.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?580798

What a bad play with KK! I told myself I would push it unless an Ace came. Two came what what did I do? Pushed my stack none the less. Horrible.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?580821

Bankroll

It's back to $1,700 after all my tilting. I was literally giving money away. I also took out $66.55 to make it that $1,700. I still have major leaks in my game - I'm definitely not ready to move up to $0.50 - $1.00.

Right now, it's datamining the $0.25 - $0.50 game and looking for people that will pay me.

Back-to-back big hands ...

The first one I called just to call in position.

37s: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580443

When he turned the flush draw over, all I could think about was "He's going to hit it." Man ... he made a pretty bold move.

The second one felt I had pre-flop:

KK: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580458

The AK hand ...

I'm UTG with AK: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580421

He mini-raises me and there is another caller behind. I can't think of what to put him on, but it could be anything from TT, JJ, AA, AK, AQ, or QQ ...

Basically, the only hand I could beat on the turn was a smaller PP and AQ. He just happened to hold the AQ.

Quads ...

They will help get me off tilt:

Pocket 5's: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580384

RITPokerDonkey is not a very good player ... having position on him really helped in this case. I guess he checked to me to let me bluff.

Tilt!

I'm playing horrendously ... not aggressive and just playing poorly. Here is a hand that set a lot of it off:

Pocket Kings: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580246

Ugh. I'm down about $120 this afternoon and my timing is just horrible.

Limping with big PP ...

He was dead money: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580096

I got lucky he chose not to re-raise me preflop. I would have had to fold.

I'm playing weak ...

I'm folding too much and not raising people enough with my good hands.

AKs from early position: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580054

55 from EP: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580059

Yes, he hit top pair, but should I try to represent something or just let it go?

$1,700 Bankroll

I cracked the $1,700 mark with my bankroll on the following hand:

Pocket 8's in the SB: http://www.pokerhand.org/?580043

Great flop for me ... I wanted to bet out (maybe checking would have been better?), but decided to bet out something and let the guy either bluff or catch up. Catch up he did and I stacked him.

Bankroll

Took out $108.40 from my account. My current FTP bankroll is right at $1,550. I'm up $161.10 for the day, but got stacked on the following hand (with the nuts!):

http://www.pokerhand.org/?578745

I was a 70% favorite when the money went in. It one of the two times I got stacked today - the other was a very poorly played QQ.

Position is killing me - I'm up $163 from the button and down $180 from the blinds (granted the suckout hand above was from the BB). I feel like I'm laying down good hands to pressure ... ugh.

Getting owned OOP

Well ... there seem to be calling stations on my left who keep calling my bets and then stay in. CB hasn't been very effective.

Playing PP aggressively

It paid off today as I was able to hit sets on later streets:

Pocket 3's, in position: http://www.pokerhand.org/?578594

The guy with TT played the hand really poorly. First he limps, then he pushes with second pair. I guess he thought I was bluffing or something.

Pocket 6's, 2nd position: Raised the weak bet on the flop, got my gin card and pushed: http://www.pokerhand.org/?578625

Numerous times I've 3 bet with PP in the blinds and have had people lay down cards, or fold to a CB.

The 2nd Barrell

I haven't been firing a second barrell and it has cost me. Two examples:

1. Pocket Jacks: http://www.pokerhand.org/?578077

I should either fold on the river or bet like $10.00 on the turn. In the long run, it would save me money. If he re-raises me on the turn, I know I'm dead. Otherwise he folds. I look his bet as sensing my weakness and trying to buy it. Horrible call by me.

2. Pocket Sixes: http://www.pokerhand.org/?578083

If I fire again on the turn, he probably folds. He played really loose (34/6) and would just check-call.

Kings have been good ...

Pocket Kings have made me $111 today. AA has made me $48. Since I'm up $144.95 for the day, this means everything else hasn't been so hot.

Big winner:

1. $71.55: http://www.pokerhand.org/?578071

It was good that we were both so deep. I decided to raise with position and then he tried to slow play his Kings. I figured my flush was good on the turn and pushed. The board didn't pair and I was happy.

Big loser: I went all-in pre-flop with AKs and ran into AA. It was an all-in from the blinds to my 3-bet so I put the guy on QQ and figured we were even money. Bad decision - I should have let it go. That was a $50 mistake. If I don't make that mistake, I'm up $190 for the day.

My first entry ...

Hopefully, by putting my thoughts down on in writing, I will be able to improve my game. Reflection allows for better playing.

Current Bankroll on FT: $1,300. Current goal - $2,000 before moving up to $0.50 - $1.00 while taking out $150 per week.
